Château de Rayne Vigneau got its name from the first owners, the de Vigneau family in the 18th century. Madame de Rayne born Catherine de Pontac bought the chateau in 1834. The first wine, Chateau de Rayne Vigneau, won the rank of premier Grand Cru Classée of Sauternes on the 1855 classification under the ownership of Madame de Rayne.
On the palate, the wine is sweet with high acidity, intense flavor of clover honey, paprika, lime, pecan, pineapple, carmel and peach in the long finish.
